EMOTION PICTURES - TRAILER FROM “SPRAWLING FROM GRACE, DRIVEN TO MADNESS
      Courtesy of EMotion Pictures http://www.emotionpicturesonline.com

This feature length documentary explores the ravages of American suburban sprawl, what America has lost as a result, and the perils we will face if we don't change the way we build our cities going forward.

The EMotion Pictures staff is hoping for completion by the end of the year, and hopes to be in theaters by spring.

Director David M. Edwards is a 14 year veteran of the film and video industry and has the scars to prove it. Coming to the position of Director via the editing suite, he is a highly detailed individual who is adept at seeing the big picture and is skilled at shaping the vision for film projects. Disappointed at employment prospects in the film industry in his hometown of Denver, he started EMotion Pictures Productions, LLC in 1995 with the intention of focusing his career on documentaries and narrative feature films. Since the founding of EMotion Pictures, Dave Edwards has established himself as a respected individual among film and video professionals and a respected member in the Denver business community. Through sound business practices and a broad base of talents and skills he insured himself, and his clients, of a long-standing career that can be relied upon to deliver the best that can be offered in film, video, and media development.

JAMES HOWARD KUNSTLER - THE END OF SUBURBIA: OIL DEPLETION AND THE COLLAPSE OF THE AMERICAN DREAM
      Courtesy of http://www.endofsuburbia.com/

      "We're literally stuck up a cul-de-sac in a cement SUV without a fill-up" - James Howard Kunstler

Since World War II North Americans have invested much of their newfound wealth in suburbia. It has promised a sense of space, affordability, family life and upward mobility. As the population of suburban sprawl has exploded in the past 50 years, so too has the suburban way of life become embedded in the American consciousness.

Suburbia, and all it promises, has become the American Dream.

But as we enter the 21st century, serious questions are beginning to emerge about the sustainability of this way of life. With brutal honesty and a touch of irony, The End of Suburbia explores the American Way of Life and its prospects as the planet approaches a critical era, as global demand for fossil fuels begins to outstrip supply. World Oil Peak and the inevitable decline of fossil fuels are upon us now, some scientists and policy makers argue in this documentary.

The consequences of inaction in the face of this global crisis are enormous. What does Oil Peak mean for North America? As energy prices skyrocket in the coming years, how will the populations of suburbia react to the collapse of their dream? Are today's suburbs destined to become the slums of tomorrow? And what can be done NOW, individually and collectively, to avoid The End of Suburbia ? Hosted by Barrie Zwicker. Featuring James Howard Kunstler, Peter Calthorpe, Michael Klare, Richard Heinberg, Matthew Simmons, Michael C. Ruppert, Julian Darley, Colin Campbell, Kenneth Deffeyes, Ali Samsam Bakhtiari and Steve Andrews. Directed by Gregory Greene. Produced by Barry Silverthorn. Duration: 78 minutes

Thomas Knowler is a very young (born in 1984) illustrator and filmmaker: “Having been a meticulous drawer since my grandmother showed me the pleasure in drawing when I was 4 years old, I haven’t stopped my pedantic pen pushing since. After deciding I wanted to draw professionally in school, I did all in my means to train and develop. In my third year of illustration BA, I decided I wanted to bring these drawings to life. Through animation! I thoroughly enjoyed my three months animating “Street!” (Ulica), and haven’t looked back.

UAPD - REM KOOHLAAS: TRACING URBANITY
      Courtesy of UAPD http://transition.turbulence.org/

UAPD is directed by media artist Angie Eng in collaboration with New York artist Jessica Higgins and a collective of student interns.

The groups conduct actions in public areas highlighting private behavior in public space and the invisible boundaries/filters prompted by mobile technologies and urban invasions of one's public space.

From Rem Koolhaas’ speech contained in the video:

“Urbanism is about creating potential. Architecture is about exploiting potential”.

“Architecture tries to define, tries to limit, tries to exclude other possibilities […]

Therefore I think that urbanism is fundamentally generous and that architecture is fundamentally egoistic…”

One hour. One Street. Hundreds of Filmmakers. The first massive collaborative documentary film about New York City.

A BROAD WAY - What would happen if you put a filmmaker on every block of Broadway from it's Northern tip at 220th Street to Battery Park and documented all 12.4 miles of Manhattan for one hour, the exact same hour, through the lens of hundreds of film cameras?

You'd capture the spirit of the world's greatest city. You'd capture a mosaic of characters and moments unfolding within its tangled traffic and bustling businesses; places and people full of life. You'd have the world's first collaborative documentary that shows New York City in a way that no film has been able to before.

A BROAD WAY is also the story of filmmakers diverse as the streets they are documenting, join New York's most creative storytellers as they embed themselves in the chaos to tell the story of a block. Utilizing the largest film permit ever issued in New York City, A BROAD WAY chronicles this massive collaborative event showcasing the filmmakers, the stories and the characters in one hour, in New York City.
